Ewan McGregor is trying other ponds to swim. He’s heading to the smaller-but-also-great pond!

The actor will have his first television gig, as he has joined the cast of “The Corrections,” an HBO drama pilot.

40-year-old McGregor will accompanying Dianne Wiest and Chris Cooper in the upcoming series, directed by Noah Baumbach and Scott Rudin.

The drama that was based on Jonathan Franzen’s book, will follow a troubled elderly Midwestern couple (Cooper and Wiest) and their three children.

They are about to trace their lives from the mid-20th century to their last Christmas together at turn of the millennium.

Scottish-born McGregor will play the middle brother chip, a Marxist who works for a Lithuanian crime boss defrauding American investors after losing his tenure-track job following an affair with a student.

Other than his series debut, McGregor can next be seen in Steven Soderbergh’s “Haywire.”

We’re excited to see you on TV, Ewan!
