Happy news coming all the way from France!
French President, Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy welcomed their first child together, a daughter, on Wednesday.
The 43-year-old First Lady gave birth to the baby girl around 8 p.m. at the Clinique de la Muette, Paris, after arriving earlier in the day.
The baby girl, whose name is unknown, is the first child born to a ruling French leader since Napoleon.
Prior to giving birth, Bruni-Sarkozy said she will not be releasing photos of the baby, insisting that the French people would not be interested in them anyway.
The singer-actress married the 56-year-old French President in February 2008. The couple confirmed her pregnancy in July.
Sarkozy has three children from two previous marriages; while Bruni-Sarkozy has one son from a previous relationship.
