Whitney Houston is in Talks to Star in Upcoming Movie

Another acting gig for Whitney Houston?
Rumor has it, the 48-year-old singer is in talks to appear opposite “American Idol” champ Jordin Sparks in an upcoming movie.
Sparks will make her acting debut in Sony Pictures’ remake of the 1976 musical drama “Sparkle,” where she will play as one of the three Williams sisters who comprise a hit girl group.
Inspired by the story of The Supremes, it is said that Houston may appear in the film as Sparkle’s less than encouraging mother, Effie.
If this news is proven to be true, that the movie would be Houston’s first major film role in 15 years, after 1996′s “The Preacher’s Wife.”
Besides being one of the best female singers in the world (and of course multiplatinum-selling recording artist), Houston had previously starred in “Waiting to Exhale” (1995) and “The Bodyguard” (1992).
She had been involved in several drug problems, and had voluntarily entered rehab for drug and alcohol treatment in May. Hopefully, that was her last rehab visit, and she will have her acting career back.
