It was a sad day for Hollywood.

After seven years of marriage, latin power couple, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, had announced last Friday that they are now separated.

In a joint statement, the couple said, “We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.”

“It is a painful time for all involved,” the statement continued, “and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.”

Due to their global-star status, they also release a copy of their official statement in Spanish.

It was a surprising split for one of Hollywood’s most high-profile couples, who tied the knot on June 2004, in a casual – and secret – ceremony at Lopez’s Beverly Hills home.

At the time, 42-year-old Anthony was ending a marriage to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, while Lopez had recently endured a high-profile breakup with Ben Affleck.

The 41-year-old actress/singer had been married twice before in brief unions to Ojani Noa and Chris Judd. The pair did a joint tour together and starred in the movie “El Cantante” in 2006.

They have two children together, 3-year-old twins Max and Emme. Reports also said they even planned a music-based reality show they were working on together. But with this sudden split, it’s unclear if it will continue.
