American Idol’s Pia Toscano Signs Record Deal
Pia Toscano’s fans, here’s your time to rejoice!
The American Idol finalist may not be the show’s winner, but it didn’t mean her wings could not be spread wider.
Toscano, who finished ninth last season, has signed a recording contract with Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine’s Interscope Records.
Commenting on her new achievement, the singer said in a statement; “I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family. [Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman] Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol and I’m looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true.”
Her debut single, entitled “This Time,” will be released on July 12. The song is an acoustic guitar- and beat-driven track written by Esther Dean, who also wrote Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” and “What’s My Name.”
She’ll perform the song during this summer’s American Idol Live! Tour, which runs from July 6-September 10, while continuing to work on her album, which will be released later this year.
We’ll be waiting for your single and album, Pia. Congrats!
