“X-Men: First Class” is This Week’s Box Office Champion!

In its first weekend, the ‘X-Men’ are not only on ‘First Class,’ but also on the top spot at the box office!
According to Box Office Mojo, the “X-Men: First Class” movie grossed an estimated $56 million, higher than the first “X-Men” film released in 2000 ($54.5 million).
But it’s also notably lower than the following three installments; “X2″ premiered to $85.6 million in 2003, “X-Men: The Last Stand” opened to $102.8 million in 2007 and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” grossed $85 million two years ago in its first weekend out.
Last week’s record-breaking No. 1 film, “The Hangover Part II,” drew $32.4 million fell one spot to second place. “Kung Fu Panda 2″ followed at No. 3 with $24.3 million.
Another sequel, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” anchored the fourth spot, attracting $18 million. Filling out the top 5 is “Bridesmaids” with $12 million.
Ranking sixth for the weekend is “Thor,” who garnered $4.2 million. While “Fast Five” took No. 7 spot with $3.2 million.
Rounding out the top 10 are: Midnight in Paris (No. 8, $2.9 million), Jumping the Broom (No. 9, $865,000) and Something Borrowed (No. 10, $835,000).
