Salute to the mother monster!

The controversial singer, Lady Gaga had beaten U.S. media mogul Oprah Winfrey as this year’s Forbes Most Powerful Celebrity, according to the power list released on Wednesday.

The “Bad Romance” singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, moved up four positions from last year, and therefore beats out Oprah, who has held the golden title for over four years.

Forbes’ annual “The Celebrity 100″ list measures power by entertainment-related earnings, media visibility and social media popularity.

That’s why Forbes rated the American singer-songwriter No. 1, estimating her earnings in the past 12 months as $90 million, but also noting her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers.

Forbes editor Dorothy Pomerantz added, “Lady Gaga beat Oprah this year because of her social media power. She can use Twitter and Facebook to work the “little monsters” into a frenzy that leads to record sales and media attention. She’s the best example of how celebrities will need to manage their careers in the coming years.”

Winfrey, who next week ends “The Oprah Winfrey Show” syndicated TV chat show after 25 years, dropped one place from last year to No. 2 earning an estimated $290 million.

This is also the first year that pop phenomenon Justin Bieber is on the list. Having pulled in $53 million over the past 12 months through concerts and his 3-D documentary movie ticket sales, the 17-year-old multi-platinum singer making himself sit at the No. 3 spot, and is also the youngest.

Coming in at No. 4 was U2, earning $195 million and Elton John, who earned $100 million.

Rounding out the top ten was golfer Tiger Woods, earning $75 million, country singer Taylor Swift, rock band Bon Jovi, British music producer and “The X Factor” judge Simon Cowell and U.S. basketball player LeBron James.

Other stars who’s making their powerful debut are; Katy Perry (No. 12), Bethenny Frankel (No. 47), Mark Wahlberg (No. 74), and Natalie Portman (No. 75).

The biggest gainer from last year’s list was Leonardo DiCaprio, moving up 56 spots to a ranking of 71.

Meanwhile, “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe and Britney Spears were among the notable names who didn’t make their return for 2011.

Compared to last year’s list, Forbes claims “the earnings power of The Celebrity 100 dropped slightly in 2011, with this year’s stars having earned a collective $4.5 billion during the past year, down from $4.7 billion in 2010.”

Don’t be a drag, just be a queen. Way to go, Lady Gaga!
