Here’s another reason to watch the upcoming “Superman” movie: Diane Lane.
Reported today, the actress had been signed as Clark Kent’s adoptive mother, Martha, for the upcoming Superman film. She’s joining The Tudors’ Henry Cavill, who was cast as the superhero in January.
The film’s director, Zack Snyder said in a statement, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman.” He also added, “We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
Snyder, who had previously known for his work on “Watchmen,” will collaborate with producer Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) in this movie. The as-yet-untitled film is scheduled for a December 2012 release.
46-year-old Lane was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in 2002 for her performance in “Unfaithful.” She most recently starred in Secretariat and will appear alongside Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini in the HBO film Cinema Verite, out next month.
So, are you excited to see this upcoming ‘Man of Steel’ movie as we are?
