Shocking news from one of Hollywood’s cute couples!

Yesterday, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz had filed for divorce from her rocker husband, Pete Wentz. Apparently, their (almost) three years of marriage is about to hit the end of the road.

In a joint statement, the couple, who’s the proud parents of a 2-year-old son said: “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”

Irreconcilable differences was cited in the paperwork that was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday. Their date of separation was listed as “to be determined,” but one thing for sure, 26-year-old Ashlee is seeking spousal support from Wentz. She is also asking for the judge to award joint legal custody of their 2-year-old son Bronx, but is requesting sole physical custody of the boy, with child visitation to be given to Pete.

For most of us, we believe this news was definitely shocking, since the couple hasn’t shown any signs of a rift or any serious troubles in their marriage. Late last week, they were spotted walking arm-in-arm around West Hollywood with their son and even more recently, Pete was singing his wife’s praises to paparazzi, even teasing big plans for Valentine’s Day.

We don’t know how or why the marriage gone downhill so fast, but only several days ago, the Fall Out Boy member tweeted a praise for his wife; “Dont forget 2 notice-when i look into the lil dudes eyes & smile, the way he loves. I realize @ashsimpsonwentz is a good moma + so much more.”

Oh Pete and Ashlee, we’re sorry for the demise of your marriage. :(
