Joyful news! Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are now the proud parents of a baby boy.
“Hola!,” a Spanish celebrity magazine, reported yesterday that Oscar-winning Spanish film stars; Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have become the parents of a baby boy, their first child. The magazine published pictures of a beaming Bardem and family members of Cruz at the Cedars Sinai medical centre, which was said as the hospital they’ve chosen to deliver the baby.
Then finally, a spokeswoman for 36-year-old Cruz confirmed Wednesday that the actress gave birth to a boy last week. “Penelope and Javier welcomed their first son into their family last week. Both parents and baby are doing great,” Cruz’s New York publicist spokeswoman said in a statement, but provided no other details.
The birth came just three days before 41-year-old Bardem received his third Academy Award nomination, for his performance in the film “Biutiful” by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. He had previously took home an Academy Award for his best supporting actor role in the Coen brother’s 2007 movie “No Country for Old Men.”
The couple has known each other for 20 years, when they met in their native Spain on the set of 1992′s “Jamon, Jamon.” But they didn’t get seriously romantic until both working together in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” nearly 15 years later. Cruz scored a Best Supporting Actress Oscar from the movie, for her role as Bardem’s violently passionate ex-wife. Looks like the movie is one movie that Cruz will never forget. Not only she got an Oscar for her performance, she also got herself a handsome husband. The couple were married at the beginning of July in the Bahamas.
Congratulations for the newborn, Penelope and Javier, all the best wishes!
