The King's Speech

The King's Speech (thestarceleb.com)

It looks like the King should practice on how to deliver his speech better when he accepted his award next month.

That’s because, “The King’s Speech” leads the nominees for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards with 12 nominations, and several critics had said that the movie has big possibilities to take home several awards.

The British monarchy saga starring Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush, is a nominee in the Best Picture category, against “The Social Network,” which already dominated early Hollywood awards, and also a favorite among critics.

Along with those two films, other best-picture nominees were the psychosexual thriller “Black Swan”; the boxing drama “The Fighter”; the sci-fi blockbuster “Inception”; the lesbian-family tale “The Kids Are All Right”; the survival story “127 Hours”; the animated smash “Toy Story 3″; the Western “True Grit”; and the Ozarks crime thriller “Winter’s Bone.”

“True Grit” ran second with 10 nominations, followed by “Inception” and “The Social Network” with eight each. In the Best Supporting Actor category, Geoffrey Rush from “The King’s Speech” will up against favorite Christian Bale, who was nominated for “The Fighter.” While in the Best Actress category, Annette Bening for “The Kids Are All Right,” will face-to-face with Natalie Portman for “Black Swan,” both received a Golden Globe last week.

James Franco, up for Best Actor for “127 Hours,” is set to co-host the awards show with Anne Hathaway at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 27. So, here are several of the nominees…
