You might don’t wanna miss the Oscars next year!
Wondering why? Well that’s because James Franco and Anne Hathaway has been appointed as co-hosts for the 83rd annual Academy Awards! Enough reasons to watch the event, right?
The news was announced Monday by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer said in a joint statement, “James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons – fresh, exciting and multi-talented.”
Franco and Hathaway will took hosting duties from Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, who hosted the big night last year. There’s also a good chance that the duo will pull double duties. They were considered as nominees too.
Franco has earned critical raves for his latest film, “127 Hours,” the real-life story of outdoorsman Aron Ralston who cut off part of his arm after getting it stuck under a boulder. Meanwhile Hathaway has a chance for a best-actress slot for “Love & Other Drugs,” a romance movie she did alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
Hathaway was once nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her work in “Rachel Getting Married” and performed a song and dance routine at the show two years ago with host Hugh Jackman. Franco, on the other hand, also had an Emmy nomination for the title role of 2001′s “James Dean,” costarred in the Oscar-winning “Milk” and delivered a memorable comic turn as a spacey pot dealer in “Pineapple Express.”
The Oscars will be aired live on ABC from the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center on February 27. Be sure to watch it!
