“Saw 3D” Took the Top Spot at the Box Office!

Apparently, lots of people had chosen “Saw 3D” as their scary company this Halloween!
Therefore, the movie had easily managed to take the top spot at the weekend box office in North America, according to studio estimates issued on Sunday, and then strengthen by the final numbers released on Monday.
Lionsgate’s “Saw 3D,” the seventh (and reportedly final) installment in the series about Jigsaw’s legacy of bloody terror and his apprentices, earned 24.2 million dollars in its first week in theaters, knocking down “Paranormal Activity 2″ from No. 1 throne. The Paranormal sequel now slipped to second place with $16.5 million, taking the 10-day haul for Paramount Pictures’ scary movie sequel to $66.6 million.
“Red,” a spy thriller with a marquee cast including Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren, remained in third place, after earning 10.7 million dollars, followed by Jackass 3D with $8.5 million. Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter, starring Matt Damon and Bryce Dallas Howard, took the No. 5 spot, bringing in $6.4 million.
