Finally! It’s official!
After being kept under wraps for quite a bit too long, Mariah Carey had finally announced the news that everyone was waiting for. She and husband Nick Cannon are expecting their first child!
The “Obsessed” singer had confirmed her pregnancy Thursday morning on NBC’s Today Show. As she said with joy, “Yes, we are pregnant, this is true. It’s been a long journey, but it’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold onto a shred of privacy, and that is not easy.”
Carey revealed that she had a miscarriage two years ago, soon after she and Cannon got married, which explained her reluctance to go public with her latest pregnancy. The Grammy Award winning singer also went on to say that the news of her impending motherhood is “absolutely emotional, but for so many reasons.”
The couple, who got married April 2008 in the Bahamas, does not know the sex of the baby and would not reveal Carey’s due date, but the junior was predicted to be born this spring.
41-year-old Carey will release her 13th studio album, “Merry Christmas II You,” next week (November 2). During her 20 year career, Carey has sold more than 200 million albums, singles and videos and scored 18 No. 1 songs in the United States.
