Shocking!

Well at least, that’s the right word to describe last night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination. The front-running twosome; Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani were sent packin’ on DWTS this week.

The elimination came as a surprise to the couple, and we’re guessing the same thing also happened to lots of other people watching, since “The Hills” star had been one of the season’s strongest dancers so far, though she had been taking heat for that spacey look in her eyes a lack of intensity and fire in her Latin performances.

After performing on Monday night, Patridge and Dovolani were actually No. 2 on the leaderboard with 24-point score out of 30 from their paso doble and 8-point score from the dance off. But apparently they failed to collect enough viewer votes to keep them in the competition. Judges’ scores are combined with viewer votes to determine which star is ousted each week.

“How shocked are you to be standing here?” co-host Brooke Burke asked Audrina just moments after she learned the news. “I don’t really know, I just know that I’ve had so much fun this in entire experience and I’ve made such good, new friends and Tony has been such an amazing teacher,” she said. “I’m definitely going to be coming back to visit.”

Audrina also thanked the judges, who on Monday indicated their disappointment with her paso doble, which featured a lot of posing, but not a ton of footwork. “You’re getting on my nerves a bit and I’ll tell you why, because you’ve got the potential to blow us all away week after week. Your dancing is clean and it’s crisp. Every week it lacks the character of the dance. This is like a battle on the ballroom.” judge Len Goodman said.

They were stunned to hear their names called in the end, and their disappointment carried to the post show press line. “I don’t think words can describe what I feel right now,” Dovolani stated. “There are a whole bunch of emotions, but if it’s meant for us to go home, it’s meant for us to go home. It’s a bittersweet moment. It’s bitter because I really felt like Audrina and I had a chance of winning the title.”

Although 25-year-old Patridge will no longer be on DWTS, her long-rumored reality show was just picked up. “My show with Mark Burnett got picked up, so I’m going to be on VH1,” an excited Audrina said. “It’s going to just be about me and my life in Hollywood, and my family’s going to be on it. It’s going to be really personal and private. I’m sure Tony will be on it. He’s like my big brother now.”

Tuesday’s episode also included a trio of musical performances. Heart performed its hit “Barracuda,” and student musicians from School of Rock continued the rocking vibe with a medley of classics. Later, Kylie Minogue performed her new single, “Get Out of My Way.” DWTS celebrates its 200th show on Monday with guest judges Kelly Osbourne, Gilles Marini, Mel B., Drew Lachey, Hélio Castroneves and Emmitt Smith. Former champions Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Ohno will also serve as team captains for the group dance round.

Who will still be dancing next week: Actors Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey, singer-actress Brandy, athletes Rick Fox and Kurt Warner, and Bristol Palin. Good luck to all six remaining contestants!
