An unexpected guest star reportedly will be a cameo in “The Hangover 2.”
According to numerous reports, embattled actor Mel Gibson will be appearing in the sequel of 2009′s box office hit, “The Hangover,” and will have a role as a tattoo artist.
The news was confirmed Tuesday by a person close to the production, who requested anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to comment publicly on the matter. The source also shared that Gibson’s role is “pivotal” to the plot, which features one of the characters going under the needle during a night of debauchery.
The New York Post’s Page Six, which first reported the casting, said Gibson would shoot his scene shortly on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built. The movie is currently shooting in Los Angeles before heading to Bangkok at the end of October.
All of the main actors (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha) will be returning, as well as supporting actor Ken Jeong as Mr. Chow. Sadly, one of the pretty important supporting characters from the first movie, Heather Graham won’t be back.
Major plot details for the movie are being kept tight under wraps, though some reports say the sequel centers around the guys taking a trip to Thailand to attend a bachelor party. “It takes place in Bangkok and L.A.,” director Todd Phillips recently told Empire magazine. “There’s gonna be some f—ed-up surprises.”
The first “Hangover” grossed $462 million worldwide at the box office. Meanwhile, the sequel was planned to be released in May 2011.
Will this cameo role be Mel Gibson’s chance of a comeback? Let’s just wait and see…
