“The Social Network” Stayed Another Week at Box Office’s Top Spot

Is “The Social Network” on its way to get 500 million friends?
Well, apparently it did, because the movie gained quite a lot of “like” thumbs last weekend, as it topped the box office for a second straight weekend.
The movie about the founding of Facebook, starring newcomer Jesse Eisenberg and pop star Justin Timberlake, took home $15.5 million, and now has a two-week total of $46.1 million, based on studio estimates Sunday.
Second place went to the debut of “Life As We Know It,” a romantic comedy about two single adults thrown together after their mutual best friends die in a car crash, and who try to jointly raise their friends’ baby. It earned 14.6 million dollars. Meanwhile “Secretariat,” another debut film about the legendary Triple Crown-winning horse, managed to race only to third place with $12.6 million.
“Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole,” an animated owl drama, came in fourth place, earning seven million and brought its three-week total to $39.4 million. It was followed by Wes Craven’s new horror movie, “My Soul to Take,” which took in 6.9 million dollars. Get ready people, Halloween movies will soon arrived!
Here’s the complete top 10 list with estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Hollywood.com. Final figures will be released Monday.
