Emma Stone Will Star on “Spider-Man”
Another beauty had been added to upcoming “Spider-Man” movie, and she’s Emma Stone.
Columbia Pictures had confirmed on Tuesday that the “Easy A” star will join the cast, opposite Andrew Garfield in the reboot of “Spider-Man.” 21-year-old Stone will play as Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s first love interest in the comic books.
“It’s been an incredible journey for us to watch Emma’s star rise as an actress,” Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures said in a statement about the blonde-haired actress.
Tolmach added, “She is extraordinarily talented and has a very special on-screen spark that is perfect for this role. Given her history with the studio, casting her in one of our most important franchises is a real thrill.”
The movie’s director, Marc Webb, also shared that Garfield and Stone’s interaction was amazing. As Webb said, “The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. “At the heart of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl.”
He continued, “Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde.”
Stone had previously appeared in “Superbad,” “The House Bunny,” and “Zombieland,” making “Spider-Man” the fourth Columbia Pictures feature she’s landed. Her upcoming projects include “Crazy, Stupid, Love” with Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling and DreamWorks’ animated comedy “The Croods.”
The “Spider-Man” reboot will begin production in December and will hit theaters in 3-D on July 3, 2012. Welcome aboard, Emma!
