He’s no longer “Lost,” and now Josh Holloway is on a new mission.
The actor, who’s former “Lost” star, is reportedly in final negotiations to join Tom Cruise for the fourth “Mission: Impossible” film, as informed by the movie’s studio, Paramount.
Holloway is the latest star to join the cast, and will play as one of the good guys. He will play alongside Cruise (of course), Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vladimir Mashkov, Michael Nygvist and Paula Patton.
Swedish actor Nyqvist will step into the role of the franchise’s latest villain, while Oscar-winning animation director Brad Bird (known from his works; “The Incredibles” and “Ratatouille”), will be making his live-action debut. The project marks the first big budget feature film for Holloway, who had gained his fame from “Lost,” as the handsome con man named Sawyer. He previously work in indie movies, such as “Whisper” and “Stay Cool.”
Production on the fourth “Mission: Impossible” movie is slated to begin in the fall with J.J. Abrams once again on board as producer. And on Tuesday, the Gulf Arab emirate’s media office said that it will be partly filmed in Dubai. “The latest installment of the globally renowned action thriller ‘Mission: Impossible,’ starring Tom Cruise, will be filmed in Dubai within the coming few weeks,” the media office said in a statement.
It continued, “Preparations for filming in Dubai have been agreed with the production company, Paramount, following two months of meetings and location scouting. Actual filming of the project, that will attract more than 400 industry professionals, is expected to commence within a few weeks.” Government-run Dubai Media Incorporated will provide technical and staff support for the production of the movie, while DSC will assist with technical and logistic support.
They also informed that “Filming in Dubai would be the longest among other international cities that will feature in MI4.” It will last at least three weeks, the statement said, without identifying the other locations where the movie will be filmed. The studio is targeting a December 2011 release.
Congrats, Josh! And good luck filming in Dubai!
