Fantasia Barrino Has Been Released from Hospital
Continuing previous article about the overdose of former “American Idol” champ Fantasia Barrino, here’s a good news on her condition.
The singer’s manager, Brian Dickens had informed that she has been released from a North Carolina hospital, two days after overdosing on aspirin and sleep aids in what authorities have characterized as a suicide attempt.
In confirming Barrino’s release Wednesday, Dickens said, “She has been lifted up by the outpouring of love and support from her fans. She is more committed than ever to her daughter and her work because they are her heart, her soul and inspiration.”
A police report released today calls the singer’s overdose a suicide attempt. A recording of the 911 call made Monday night was also obtained by TMZ.com earlier today, in which a male voice (likely Dickens) is heard telling police, “An individual took a bottle of Aspirin and she is slowly losing consciousness.”
When the operator asks if 26-year-old Barrino is alone, he responds: “I’m outside, but somebody is with her inside.” When asked if she is bleeding, he says, “Yes.” He says she doesn’t have a weapon and is not violent. “She’s in the shower. Her family tried to put her in the shower to try to keep her awake until the paramedics get there,” the male says to the dispatcher, who responds, “Take her out of the shower and turn the water off.”
The overdose came just after the Idol winner had been the subject of relationship rumors with a married man, Antwaun Cook, causing his wife, Paula, to file for divorce. Prior to the incident, Dickens said that the singer is “certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of Cook’s marriage.” He added that Barrino had believed Antwaun Cook when he told her that he and wife Paula separated last summer.
Get well soon, Fantasia. Appreciate your life!
