Motherhood is in the works for Lily Allen!
Reported yesterday by DailyMail, the British singer and boyfriend Sam Cooper are expecting their first child. The couple told friends and family the news at the weekend.
When announcing her pregnancy, 25-year-old Allen said, “It brings me great pleasure to tell you that Sam and I are expecting our first child. It goes without saying that we are both absolutely delighted.’” She was three months’ pregnant, as revealed by a recent scan revealed.
Her pregnancy follows numerous hints that she was retiring from pop music, and comes after she cancelled a performance at the Benicassim music festival in Spain. She was also spotted staying clear of cigarettes and alcohol at the Wireless festival last month. Her most recent performance was at last month’s London’s Wireless Festival, providing support for US rap superstar Jay-Z.
Allen rose to fame since the release of her debut album, “Alright, Still” in 2006. Her second album, “It’s Not Me, It’s You” also well-received, but late last year, Allen had announced plans to not making any other records. She’s in hiatus of the music world now, although still involved in other activities. This year she has also been setting up a vintage clothing line, Lucy In Disguise with elder sister Sarah Owen.
The “Smile” singer is the daughter of comedian and actor Keith Allen, who started dating 32-year-old Cooper last summer. She had previously pregnant by Ed Simons, one half of dance duo the Chemical Brothers, but suffered an unfortunate miscarriage in January 2008.
