Lady Gaga and her little monsters must be proud!

Announced today by MTV, the eccentric singer has topped the MTV Video Music Award nominations with 13 nominations, the most ever received by an artist in a single year.

Those nominations including “Best Pop Video,”" Best Female Video” and “Best Dance Video” for her chart topping hit “Bad Romance.” Even better, Lady Gaga is also the first female artist in VMA history to have two nominations for “Video of the Year” for “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” featuring BeyoncĂ©.

“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history,” Gaga said after hearing the news. “Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number: 13.” She further added: “A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous. Thank you, MTV!”

Eminem followed close behind with eight nominations including Best Male Video, and Video of the Year for his “Not Afraid” video. VMA newcomer Ke$ha is up for three awards for “Tik Tok,” while teen sensation Justin Bieber is nominated for “Best New Artist.” Mom-to-be Alicia Keys, Pink, Katy Perry, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Jay-Z are also among the nominated list.

The 27th VMA awards will be screened live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12th. Viewers can vote for general VMA categories, including “Best New Artist,” by visiting vma.mtv.com beginning August 3.
