Sunday night was a victorious night for Robert Pattinson and friends, as they were among top winners of MTV Movie Awards 2010.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon, second movie of the series, was named Best Movie at the 19th annual MTV Movie Awards which hosted by Parks and Recreation star, Aziz Ansari.
New Moon also took home three other gold popcorn buckets through its leading man Robert Pattinson. The British heartthrob won Best Male performance, first-ever bucket for Global Superstar and shared a Best Kiss trophy for the second year in a row with co-star (and rumored girlfriend) Kristen Stewart.
When he gave his winning speech, 24-year-old Pattinson thanked his parents for conceiving him and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, “who I owe a lot now, like everything.”
Meanwhile, Stewart herself also repeated in Best Female performance. “Thank you so much. I guess Twilight is really awesome, and I agree. Whoo!” she gave a thumbs-up. [Director] Chris Weitz, I haven’t talked to him in awhile. How cool is this, right? I’m going to peace out and thank you so much.”
The cute couple also stole a spotlight when they came up on the podium together to accept Best Kiss trophy, and Pattinson managed to plant a kiss on Stewart when her guard was down.
Another highlight of the night was when Sandra Bullock appeared on stage and received a standing ovation as she accepted the MTV Generation Award. It was Bullock’s first live televised appearance since she split with unfaithful husband Jesse James earlier this year.
The 45-year-old Oscar-winning actress used her acceptance speech to clear up tabloid rumors — “No. 1: I’m not dead.” — and then smooch Scarlett Johansson. “No matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do,” vowed Bullock, “and I’m not going anywhere.”
MTV Movie Awards that was aired live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California featured performances by Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg and Christina Aguilera. Tom Cruise added more excitements once he appeared on stage with Jennifer Lopez.
He showed off his dance moves to Ludacris’ “Get Back,” appeared quite different from his usual self, as he performed in his Tropic Thunder character, foul-mouthed movie mogul Les Grossman. In the opening bit, Grossman used Michael Cera as a human bookend and berated “The Karate Kid” star Jaden Smith as his father Will Smith looked on.
The night was filled with so many bleep-words, but also filled with so much fun. Here’s the complete list of winners from the 2010 MTV Movie Awards:
