Apparently, and sadly, it’s a brief romance between Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato.

The duo had confirmed separately on Monday that they have called it quits, only after a few months of dating. Although just last week, the middle Jonas said in an interview that he was excited to have his then-girlfriend join him on tour this summer.

And since 20-year-old Jonas had previously dumped country star Taylor Swift via phone, rumors had spread that 17-year-old Lovato was also being dumped over the phone. But through her Twitter account, Lovato shut down the rumors, saying, “There are so many crazy rumors flying around today. I’d like to clear a few things up. First, Joe and I did split but it wasn’t over the phone. Things didn’t work out but we’ll remain friends.”

She continued tweeting, refuting rumors about she’s already seeing someone new post-Joe (Lovato was rumored has been involved romantically with former The 70′s Show star, Wilmer Valderrama). “Secondly, I am NOT dating anybody already. Nothing is more important to me than the relationship I have with my fans,” she wrote, “Just thought you guys should know this.”

Regarding the breakup, Joe said to People magazine, “Demi and I knew going into our romantic relationship that it may not be an easy one. I realize over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now.”

He added, “It was my choice to breakup but I love her as a friend. She’s been there for me when I needed her. I will continue to be her friend and be there for her.”

Lovato met Jonas in 2007 on the set of Disney channel series Camp Rock. The pair finally acknowledged their romance in a March radio interview with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush. Even though they have separated, the show must go on for both, who are scheduled to tour together this summer for Camp Jonas.

The former couple will still have to deal with one another this summer: they’re set to tour together. Hopefully it won’t be too awkward for them :)
