Stars will be competing against each other at the 2010 BET Awards.

Nominations for this year’s Black Entertainment Television award were announced on Tuesday. Jay-Z is the top contender with five nominations, in which three of them, he will compete with his beautiful wife, BeyoncĂ©.

They’re both nominated for “video of the year,” “best collaboration” and “viewers’ choice.” The rapper’s other two nominations are in the “video of the year” category (competing with newcomers B.o.B and Melanie Fiona) and “best male hip-hop artist” category.

Not far from her husband, 28-year-old BeyoncĂ© scored four nominations. The same amount also received by Melanie Fiona and Alicia Keys, all up for “best R&B female artist” category. R&B crooner Trey Songz also received four nominations, and will compete with Fiona, Justin Bieber and rapper Drake’s group Young Money in the “best new artist” category.

The BET Awards typically honor black singers, actors, actresses and athletes, but officials described 16-year-old Bieber as a cross-over artist. As said by Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programing and Specials, “Bieber has crossed the color boundaries the same way that hip-hop has crossed the boundaries the other way for a number of years.”

Meanwhile on the cinematic side, five great movies are nominated for Best Movie. They are; Avatar, Precious, The Blind Side, Michael Jackson’s This Is It and Law Abiding Citizen. Zoe Saldana, Gabourey Sidibe, in-house talent Mo’Nique, Taraji P. Henson and Regina King are up for Best Actress, while veterans Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle and Jamie Foxx will compete against newcomers Idris Elba and Quinton Aaron in the Best Actor category.

Queen Latifah will host the awards show, which airs live on June 27 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. And for a complete list of nominations, please go to BET.com. So, don’t forget to mark your calendar, people!
