Usher is Back on Billboard’s Top Spot with OMG!
OMG, Usher is this week’s king of chart!
The R&B singer had successfully climbed from no. 6 to no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with his latest single “OMG,” as the chart was released Thursday morning (May 6). With this new achievement, Usher has sit at the top spot for the ninth time.
Since Usher first led the Hot 100 during Valentine’s Day week 1998 with “Nice & Slow,” no other artist has outpaced his production of No. 1s. Mariah Carey and Rihanna have the second-most chart-toppers in that span with six each. Before OMG, the 31-year-old crooner held the No. 1 spot for three weeks in March 2008 with “Love in This Club,” featuring Young Jeezy.
Meanwhile on the Billboard 200, Usher’s sixth studio set, “Raymond v. Raymond,” slipped one rung to No. 6 with sales of 48,0000. The album became his third consecutive No. 1 debut when it entered the list four weeks ago.
