Emmy Awards 2010 hopefully will be more entertaining with the appearance of Jimmy Fallon.
Yes, hopefully so, because the “Late Night” talk show host and former “Saturday Night Live” comedian has been named as host of the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards yesterday.
NBC, the network that will aired the show, made the announcement Tuesday. As NBC’s executive vp of alternative, Paul Telegdy said, “Jimmy was the natural choice as one of the most promising and likable young entertainers who will now have the chance to display his many talents on television’s biggest night.”
Telegdy continued, “His proven skills as a comedian and host — as well as his openness to new ideas — will fully engage audiences and ultimately deliver a lively Emmy telecast.” And even executive producer Don Mischer said Fallon “has many talents. He can sing, he can dance, he does impersonations, and he does it gracefully and with ease.”
Meanwhile, 35-year-old Fallon joked in a statement that hosting the Emmys “has been a dream of mine ever since they told me I was doing it.”
The award show that’s considered as one of U.S. television’s top honors, will air on NBC in August 29. Nominations for the awards, presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, will be announced July 8.
Good luck with the future gig, Jimmy!
