Chace Crawford Has Backed Out from Footloose Remake
Footloose remake encountered another obstacle on the way. And it’s quite a big one.
Chace Crawford, who initially taking the signature role on the remake, has unexpectedly backed out of Footloose‘s production, therefore leaving the movie ‘high and dry’.
The 24-year-old actor hasn’t explained the reason behind his departure, but reports said that his Gossip Girl shooting schedule for next season is pretty tight this summer, making it hard to find time for the film shoot.
Crawford is not the first casualty of this project from Paramount Pictures. High School Musical star Zac Efron previously declined to take the role for fear of being typecast, and director Kenny Ortega also bowed out during pre-production.
The production is now once again short one leading man, and the studio is expected to cast an unknown for the Ren MacCormack role (the character was made famous by Kevin Bacon in the original 1984 film). Rumors spread, the studio could even launch a nationwide search for the role.
Although Crawford had said goodbye to the project, former Dancing With the Stars cutie Julianne Hough is still attached to it. So who will accompanied her? Let’s wait and see…
