Celebrities Support For Haiti

Stars are not only have big names, but also have big hearts.

George Clooney and friends had put a pretty great example with Haiti Telethon, and others don’t want to miss being a part of Haiti relief campaign. From singing to auctioning, the stars have their own way to contribute donations.

Jessica Simpson is contributing by raising money to send shoes to earthquake victims in Haiti. The singer and her hairstylist pal Ken Paves have teamed up with the Nashville-based organization Soles4Souls, that has pledged to work with other aid agencies to give out one million pairs of shoes.

The charity says Haitian survivors need shoes to protect against broken glass, twisted metal and raw sewage. Simpson is urging people to “do everything that we can for the victims in Haiti. Just five dollars will buy two people a pair of shoes.” The project’s home is 50Kshoes.

Lindsay Lohan also lend a hand. The actress/designer has announced that 100 percent of the proceeds from sales of her 6126 brand Fame leggings will go to Save the Children, one of the aid groups working with earthquake victims in Haiti. As Lohan said in a statement, “It is truly horrible what has happened to the people and children of Haiti. I believe every company should do their part by donating what they can.”

Following her fellow celeb friends’ steps, Twilight star Kristen Stewart is making an effort through her company, K.Stew & Co. She raised cash by hosting four lucky ladies in Park City, who were willing to paid handsomely for the privilege of a free plane ticket, a place to stay and the pleasure of Stewart’s company. Reportedly, the four ladies paid a thousand dollars for a ticket which went to support the cause for Haiti.

No stopping there. Others also didn’t want to miss a chance to participate for Haiti. They are:

  • John Travolta, who flew his own plane, packed with food and medical equipment, from his home in Florida to the Caribbean island.
  • Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey are the latest singers to sign on for a reported charity cover of R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts being produced by Simon Cowell in conjunction with Britain’s Sun tabloid.
  • Jamaican reggae-rap artists Shaggy and Sean Paul have recorded a charity single, Rise Again, with Haitian musician Belo and soca singers Alison Hinds of Barbados and Destra Garcia from Trinidad and Tobago as part of the relief fund set up by Caribbean mobile company Digicel.
  • David Archuleta, Julianne Hough, Eve, Tom Morello, Creed, Godsmack and New Kids on the Block were among the artists who helped raise $1 million for DC3 Music Group to send doctors and 10,000 pounds of medical supplies (donated by MedShare) to Haiti on a plane provided by the Wheelchair Foundation.

Great job everybody! Keep on going!
