It’s a great honor for Tim Burton, as the filmmaker was chosen to head this year’s Cannes film festival jury.

Organizers of the French Riviera festival made the announcement Tuesday in a statement quoting Burton’s reaction. The 51-year-old director said, “After spending my early life watching triple features and 48-hour horror movie marathons, I’m finally ready for this.” He also added, “When you think of Cannes you think of world cinema. And as films have always been like dreams to me, this is a dream come true.”

Burton is popularly known for his work since 1985. He had directed so many movies, among them are: Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes, Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, animation 9, and the newest will be Alice in Wonderland, that will be released March 5.

The 63rd Cannes festival runs from May 12-23, and the rest of the jury will be announced later.
