Long time no heard, Meredith Baxter brought a shocking news.

The actress who played mother Elyse Keaton on the 1980s TV series Family Ties, has revealed on Wednesday that she is a lesbian.

When appeared Wednesday on NBC’s The Today Show, 62-year-old Baxter said that she discovered she was gay seven years ago, several years after her divorce from her third husband. “I am a lesbian, and it was a later-in-life recognition of that fact. I got involved with someone I never expected to get involved with, and it was that kind of awakening. I had a great deal of difficulty connecting with men in relationships.” said the lovable TV mom.

Her comments came as media reports and published photos of her and a woman embracing began to surface in public. Baxter confirmed that the woman is her girlfriend of four years, a building contractor named Nancy Locke. She said her five children, who range from ages 25 to 42, supported her when she told them.

Baxter was popularly known as the mother of Michael J. Fox’s character in Family Ties sitcom, a conservative-minded teenager Michael P. Keaton, from 1982 to 1989. Later years after Family Ties, she has had guest and recurring television roles since then and also runs a skincare company. She has been married three times.
