Robert Pattinson: I Was Doing a Striptease

In one of New Moon scenes shot in Italy last spring, Robert “Edward” Pattinson got to rip his clothes off in a town square. More than 2,000 people were there, obviously most of them were Twit-hards. And yes, they were all nearly went blind. But how Pattinson felt about it?
“I felt pretty goofy. I was essentially doing a striptease,” Pattinson said.
However, although Pattinson devotees went berserk over the sight of his yummy bare torso, Pattinson said it was an outstanding moment that helped him connect with his fans.
“It was also one of the moments where I’ve really felt closest to people’s emotional attachment to Edward,” he says. “It was a moment where I’ve felt the whole weight of anticipation, and I guess responsibility as well, of being Edward, for all the people who were kind of so obsessed with the stories.”
On that set of Twilight saga’s second installment, Taylor “Jacob” Lautner went shirtless as well. Of seeing Lautner do that for the first time, “It’s like, ‘Jeez, now I have to go to the gym.’” Pattinson said.
