Justice has served for Leona Lewis!

Following the singer’s punching incident during book signing on Wednesday, a man has been charged with assault and detained for psychiatric assessment after allegedly attacked 24-year-old Lewis.

London’s Metropolitan Police had confirmed on Tuesday that they have arrested 29-year-old Peter Kowalczyk, charged him with common assault and “sectioned” him under the 1983 Mental Health Act, because he appeared (probably) mentally ill. Under the act, people who may have a psychiatric disorder can be held against their will and given treatment.

Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, the Bleeding Love singer wrote on her web site regarding the incident, “Thank you so much for your support, it is truly overwhelming. Yesterday was a horrible shock and left me extremely hurt and upset. I’m very sorry to those I wasn’t able to meet at the signing. Thank you again for all of the lovely messages.”

The accused Kowalczyk will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 26.
