Neil Patrick Harris is not only a great actor, but a pretty good presenter too.

After hosting last month’s Tonys, the How I Met Your Mother star will host the prime-time Emmy Awards in September. Harris had previously won critical acclaim hosting and had been rumored for more than a week to have the job. Finally, CBS made their official choice on Monday.

As president of CBS Entertainment, Nina Tassler said, “We already knew Neil as a fantastic actor and performer, but after blowing everyone away as host of this year’s Tony Awards, we couldn’t think of anyone better to emcee the television industry’s biggest award show.” Tassler also added, “He is not only engaging as a host, but has great instincts when it comes to live television. We feel like we’re in great hands.”

On the other hand, the funny guy who plays Barney Stinson on the famous series How I Met Your Mother expressed his happiness about the news, saying, “After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the prime-time Emmys.” He also said that he looks forward to “adding my own voice to it, while honoring the nominees and the entire year in television. But which voice to choose? I’m torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We’ll see what happens on the night.”

36-year-old Harris will also serve as a producer for the CBS broadcast, which will air live Sept. 20 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Can’t wait to see your performance, Mr. Robot!
