A big shock for cinema world! The actor who played as Kwai Chang Caine in 1970s television series, Kung Fu, David Carradine was found death Thursday in Thailand.

His body was found by a maid at the luxury hotel in Bangkok where he was staying. Carradine was found hanging naked and bound in a closet. He was 72. He appeared to have hanged himself in a suite at the luxury Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel, as said by Lt. Teerapop Luanseng, the officer responsible for investigating the death.

But as the police probed the evidence in the crime scene, Carradine was reported may have died from a sex act gone wrong, or often called as “auto-erotic accident”. Thai police commander, Lieutenant General Worapong Siewpreecha, told reporters, “There was a rope tied around his neck and another rope tied at his sex organ, and the two ropes were tied together and hung in the closet. Under these circumstances we cannot be sure that he committed suicide but he may have died from masturbation.”

The Kill Bill actor was in the Thai capital to shoot a film called Stretch. His death is a shock to everybody who knew him. As Tiffany Smith, of Binder & Associates, his management company said, “All we can say is, we know David would never have committed suicide. We’re just waiting for them to finish the investigation and find out what really happened. He really appreciated everything life has to give … and that’s not something David would ever do to himself.”

Smith also said that Carradine was “in good spirits” when he left the U.S. for Thailand on May 29 to work on the movie. He had several other projects lined up after the action film, which was being directed by Charles De Meaux with Carradine in the lead.

A rep from the actor’s family, Julie Nathanson said, “The Carradine family is devastated by the news of David’s passing. There will be no further comment until more information can be confirmed.” His manager, Chuck Binder, also paid tribute to the actor, saying, “He was full of life, always wanting to work… a great person.”

Carradine had appeared in more than 100 feature films with such famous directors such as Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby. He was very popularly known for his role in Kung Fu, and returned to the top in recent years as the title character in Quentin Tarantino’s two-part saga Kill Bill, where he played as Bill alongside Uma Thurman.

He was married five times and had two daughters; 47-year-old Calista Carradine and 31-year-old Kansas Carradine. He also has a son from his relationship with actress Barbara Hershey, 37-year-old Tom Carradine. His last marriage was with Annie Bierman, at his friend’s home, actor Michael Madsen’s seaside Malibu home in 2004.

May you rest in peace, Mr. David. You’ll be forever missed.
