Madonna Nude Photo

Madonna is definitely one of the stars who’s known for her boldness, even in her earlier years before she got her worldwide fame.

A bit of her boldness was proved by a full frontal nude photo of Madonna that was taken in 1979 -before she became famous-, that has sold at auction last Thursday for $37,500. The price was more than double its pre-sale estimate, and it’s a record auction price for a nude photograph of the diva.

According to Christie’s auction house, an unnamed European buyer bought the black and white picture, which at first had been expected to sell for up to $15,000. At that time, the superstar, then known as Madonna Louise Ciccone, was a dancer trying to make a living when she answered a newspaper ad seeking a nude model. She was only 20-year-old, and the photo shoot earned her a $25 modeling fee.

The picture was taken by photographer Lee Friedlander and appeared in Playboy in 1985, along with other pictures from the shoot. The other five pictures were sold together in 2003 for $7,170. All of them appeared in the magazine after Madonna found fame with hits like Holiday and Like a Virgin. The picture auctioned was one of some 150 images of fashion and celebrity icons from the collection of Leon and Michaela Constantiner.

The auction sale fetched more than $900,000 in all, including a top price of $242,500 for “Sie Kommen,” Newton’s images of nude models for the Italian and French versions of Vogue in the 1980s.

Sexy Madonna, indeed.
