Anthony Kiedis

Long time no news, Anthony Kiedis of RHCP came back with some health issues.

Frontman of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers was reported having a health scare last summer, his kidneys came close to failing that urged him to seek medical attention. According to several sources close to the vocalist, years of partying and heavy drug use had caught up with Kiedis now, up to the point where he was forced to have a regular visits to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for kidney treatment.

An insider said, “Anthony’s health was pretty bleak. Organ failure was a possibility. There was talk of how to get him on a transplant list, to cover all the bases, but that opened up a whole new can of worms because people with histories of drug and alcohol abuse are less likely to receive the organs they need.” And since the singer doing back and forth hospital visits, a friend also said the “general consensus is that the treatments helped, and he’s getting better.” A spokesman for 46-year-old Kiedis could not be reached for comment.

The Californication singer has opened up over the years about his struggles with drug addiction, whether through songs such as the band’s 1991 megahit Under the Bridge or in 2004′s memoir Scar Tissue, in which he discussed getting high on the streets of L.A. and essentially living the junkie life. He’s reportedly been clean since 2000, living a clean healthy life, become a full-fledged vegetarian and taken up yoga.

Hmm.. hopefully his illness won’t progressing into something even more serious. Get well soon Anthony!
