People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2008, Hugh Jackman, will have the honor to host the 81st annual Academy Awards ceremony. This will be the first time Jackman hosts the prestigious award, which will be held at the Kodak Theatre on February 22, 2009.

The actor who played Wolverine in X-Men trilogy was chosen “because we want the ceremony to be fun,” says Laurence Mark, producer of the telecast. Mark added that the Australia star can hold the screen and hold a stage, “It doesn’t hurt that he looks amazing in a tuxedo and he’s the Sexiest Man Alive.”

Jackman was once won an Emmy in 2005 for hosting the 59th annual Tony Awards in 2004. He was also nominated as host of the Tonys in 2005. Hmm… apparently Jackman is not only sexy and an outstanding actor, but he’s a great host too!

40-year-old Jackman is also a producer for Deception movie, where he played alongside Michelle Williams and Ewan McGregor. He will also be a producer (and playing the main role) for the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, planned to be released in 2009. He is reported joining in action drama movie, Drive, which also planned to be released next year. Hooray, more Jackman’s sightings next year!
