Tom Ford Adds a New Career: Movie Director
Tom Ford
Apparently Tom Ford is not only good at designing clothes, but he is also good at directing a movie. Well at least, that’s the latest thing he adds on his resume.
The style icon announced Wednesday his first deal to direct a film. His first picture will be entitled A Single Man, starring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode, and is set to begin filming in Los Angeles on Monday. The movie is set in 1962 and tells the story of how Firth’s British college-professor character deals with losing his partner of 16 years. Ford will not only directing, he will also one of the producers in the project. Other producers are Chris Weitz, Andrew Miano and Robert Salerno.
In April 2004, Ford parted company with the Gucci group and Yves Saint Laurent. He and Gucci’s CEO Domenico de Sole had some disagreements. Following his departure, Ford opened his own fashion house, Tom Ford. 47-year-old Ford began with accessories; his line of eyewear was the first to become successful. The Tom Ford line has spreading the wings wider, and now covers Menswear, Beauty, Eyewear, and both Men and Women’s Accessories. He also voted as 2008′s Menswear Designer of the Year by Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Hmm… who knows, Ford could have a great success in the two jobs he loves. I know one thing for sure, costumes in his movies must be awesome. Good luck for the directing career Tom!
