The star of Saturday Night Live, Amy Poehler and husband, actor Will Arnett, are now a proud parents of baby boy named Archibald William Emerson Arnett. The baby who’s nicknamed Archie was born early Saturday evening in New York, weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce.

A statement from the couple was read by Poehler’s spokesman, Lewis Kay, “I can confirm that Amy gave birth to Archie Arnett on Saturday” . Also continuing the news, Kay said that the mother and child were healthy and resting comfortably.

Poehler’s spot as the live show’s parody news anchor alongside Seth Meyers was empty last Saturday, and Meyers announced the absent by saying, “Amy Poehler is not here because she is having a BABY!” The audience were thrilled about the news, giving a big applause.

Later on, the Weekend Update was ended with a custom rendition of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, sang by special guest Maya Rudolph and current cast member Kenan Thompson. The song got a bit edited with these words: “We love you Amy, and we just can’t wait to meet your baby!” While Meyers signed off: “For Weekend Update I’m Seth Meyers – we love you Amy!”

The 37-year-old comedian was known for playing Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in SNL, accompanying Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, the Republican’s vice-presidential nominee. She and Fey also act together in the movie Baby Mama. Poehler play the role of Angie, a working class girl who agrees to be a surrogate mother for a single businesswoman (Fey).
