The ‘Say’ singer, John Mayer and ‘Fall Out Boy’ frontman, Pete Wentz definitely a best friend. Wentz was reported will ask Mayer to be the godfather of his baby when it’s born.

With the D-day is getting nearer, parents-to-be Ashlee and Pete are busy preparing everything for their newborn. According to Wentz, John Mayer will be a good role model for the baby who’s due in October.

A close friend of the couple says, “Pete and John have been spending a lot of time together lately and they get on so well. They are firm friends. John gets a bad rap and is always portrayed as a bad boy but he’s got a heart of gold. Pete and Ashlee know that and they think he would make a great godparent”.

Then the source adds, “But they are holding back asking him at the moment because they are not sure how Ashlee’s sister Jessica would feel about her ex having such a strong link to her new niece”.

Yeah, I can understand how odd it will be for Jessica Simpson if John Mayer is her niece’s Godfather. But if he’s the right choice, I think Simpson will eventually be okay. After all, past is past, right?!
