Rihanna Dons Navy Uniform for her Upcoming movie ‘Battleship’
After enjoying her 24th birthday, music sensation Rihanna is preparing for her upcoming movie, Battleship.
She is playing the role of a US Navy officer Raikes in the film. The other stars of the film include Liam Neeson, Alexander Skaarsgard, Brooklyn Decker and Taylor Kitsch.
The movie depicts the story of a battalion of international navy ships that come under attack from an unknown alien armada. The film is expected to be premiered on May 18.During a recent interview, Rihanna shared how great she felt about making the movie. She said, “I love doing movies now. It’s something I want to do more of. I just want to pick films that are wise for me and roles that I can pull off, nothing that is too big for me.”
Battleship director Peter Berg praised about the acting skills of the singer during an interview and said, “She was great. She has a very strong part. I was surprised no one had ever thought to hire Rihanna. I was a huge fan of her videos. Obviously she’s sexy, but she had this real intensity. I’m like, “Someone’s going to get her.”
Peter Berg is a fan of musicians turned actors. He has already casted country singer Tim McGraw in Friday Night Lights and The Kingdom.
“Musicians have been acting since Frank Sinatra won an Oscar for ‘From Here to Eternity’,” he adds. Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson, the late Whitney Houston, I thought, was tremendous in The Bodyguard. As recently as Mariah Carey in Precious, she was great.”
